The 2003 Event of the Year was a joyful celebration of song and dance that told the story of a beloved grandfather’s passing, and the gifts of literature, music and imagination he leaves his grandchildren. Conceived and directed by Tracy Straus, the event featured original choreography, set designs, and costumes and a finale written by the children of NDI. Over 200 dancers from NDI’s SWAT and Celebration Teams, and from NDI’s wheelchair-mobile program at P.S. 199 performed in the event alongside professional musicians and Broadway singers. An audience of over 7,000 attended the production at the Concert Hall at LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts. Congratulations and thank you to volunteers, parents and staff who helped make this event a huge success!
