After-School Classes

National Dance Institute's After-School Classes are open to the general public, and allow children not currently affiliated with our In-School or Advanced Programs to experience first-hand the excellence of NDI.

Arts Encounter
Classes and workshops for children Pre-K and 5-6 year olds. Children learn energetic dance steps drawn from NDI’s unique pedagogy, study music and rhythm, and design and make their own costumes for a culminating performance.

Jazz Orchestra with Neal Kirkwood

Children learn tunes by jazz masters, study the basics of improvisation, blues and swing, and learn to play together as an ensemble.

Tap Class with Toni Noblett
NDI offers a weekly beginning level tap class for children ages 6 and up. Taught by master teacher Toni Noblett, dancers develop fundamental tap technique by focusing on musicality.

*NEW* Music Theater with Liz Gennaro
Broadway choreographer Liza Gennaro will teach participants a combination of techniques, including dance voice, scene study, auditioning and performance. Students will be taught vocal style and choral singing as well as the basics of how to read music. In addition to songs and choral arrangements, they will learn choreography from the canon of musical theater. For their culminating performance, students will have the opportunity to create and perform musical theater dance numbers.

Children will have the opportunity to experience NDI's unique, award-winning pedagogy, learning energetic dance steps and original choreography, and giving a culminating performance for parents and peers.
