What’s Next?
- Submit an APPLICATION by May 31st.
- Attend an IN-PERSON AUDITION at NDI’s Jacques d’Amboise Center for Learning & the Arts in Harlem, NY on June 6th, 5:30pm – 7:00pm.
- Following the audition, selected candidates will be invited to teach a mini lesson on zoom (June 20th – 21st).
- Final candidates will then be invited to LEAD A MINI-CLASS for a group of NDI’s children and an IN-PERSON INTERVIEW with our Artistic Director at NDI’s Center in early July.
If selected for the position…
- July: New Teaching Artists complete the fingerprinting/DOE background check and hiring process.
- July/August: Newly hired Teaching Artists are invited to participate in NDI’s two-week Teaching Artist Training this summer:
- NDI Level One Intensive Training, Monday–Friday, July 29th–August 9th, from 9:30am-4:30pm in person at NDI.
- Compensation: $25/hour. Total: $1,750
- Participation is not required but strongly encouraged, as this training provides a foundation to the NDI Method and our program structure.
- September: Hired Teaching Artists are required to participate in the following paid professional development:
- Week of September 16th: 6 hours of New Teaching Artist Onboarding. Paid at Teaching Rate
- Tuesday–Thursday, September 24th–26th: Annual Teaching Artist Retreat at NDI’s Center. $150/day for 3 days; Total: $450
