The NDI Collaborative for Teaching and Learning is a professional development program for teaching artists, dance educators, musicians, and organizations worldwide.  NDI Collaborative trainings are based on National Dance Institute’s effective and widely-acclaimed teaching techniques developed by Founder Jacques d’Amboise, codified by Artistic Director Emerita Ellen Weinstein, and continuing to flourish under the guidance of Artistic Director Kay Gayner.

The NDI Collaborative officially launched in 2019 in response to an increasing demand for training in our award-winning teaching pedagogy, the NDI Method. The NDI Method embodies our philosophy of joyful and rigorous learning for every child, teamwork and respect for others, and the power of performance. Through the NDI Collaborative, we offer professional development workshops for dance and music teachers, as well as customized trainings to meet the unique needs of arts organizations, dance companies, and schools. Over the past few years we have designed and implemented successful trainings for over 1,600 national and international teachers, impacting 150,000 children with the NDI Method, and reaching 39 states and 16 countries.

All trainings are experiential and include joyful dance classes, mentored teaching opportunities, stimulating group discussions, and live music. Teachers from all different dance backgrounds find the NDI Method enhances their practice and that our trainings equip them with new teaching strategies to motivate, engage, and inspire diverse learners.

NDI’s programs are strengthened by equity and inclusion, and we are committed to serving a diverse cohort of participants in all trainings.

NDI is an Approved Sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) for the New York State Education Department. To learn more about CTLE requirements, click here.
