Classes at the National Dance Institute Center for Learning & the Arts provide children the opportunity to experience the joy, rigor, and excellence of NDI’s award-winning arts education programs.

Need-based scholarships are available for all NDI Center classes through an application process. For more information or to apply for a scholarship, contact Christina Aguirre or call (212) 226-0083. The Valerie Diker ‘Come Dance With Us’ Scholarship is made possible through the generous support of Charles and Valerie Diker.

NDI Dance

Classes for 2nd–3rd Grades, 4th–5th Grades, and 4th–6th Grades

NDI Dance is a joyfully rigorous class that draws upon NDI’s unique movement vocabulary, allowing students of every level to succeed as dancers and performers.

Fee: $300 for 12-week Session (plus $25 non-refundable registration fee)

World Percussion 

Classes for 3rd to 5th Grades

Students will engage in a joyful and hands-on exploration of rhythms from around the world. Using their body as an instrument as well as percussion instruments, students will create original pieces and develop skills in coordination, musicality, and teamwork.

Fee: $300 for 12-week Session (plus $25 non-refundable registration fee)

Ballet

Classes for 5th to 8th Grades

Taught by NDI Master Teaching Artist and former ballet dancer Emily Meisner, this class offers students the opportunity to develop and improve their classical ballet skills while experiencing the energy and thrill of a typical NDI class.

Fee: $300 for 12-week Session (plus $25 non-refundable registration fee)

Modern Dance

Classes for 5th to 8th Grades

Taught by NDI Master Teaching Artist and choreographer Bianca Johnson, this class is intended to supplement students’ prior dance training, providing a foundation in modern dance technique and opportunities to learn the fundamentals of choreography.

Fee: $300 for 12-week Session (plus $25 non-refundable registration fee)

Arts Encounter:
Movement and Music for Young Children

Classes for K-1st Grades

Arts Encounter, NDI’s unique early childhood program, was developed in the belief that all children are dancers and singers. Under the guidance of NDI Master Teaching Artists and musicians, children explore creative movement, storytelling, and the joy and power of the arts.

Fee: $360 for 12-week Session (plus $25 non-refundable registration fee)

Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m.; January 12–April 6, 2019

Summer 2019:

FREE two-week dance and music program

Classes for Children Entering Grades 4 and 5

Children in this free summer program will experience high-energy and engaging dance and music classes taught by a team of NDI Master Teachers and Musicians, who will take children on a thrilling, creative journey culminating in a performance. This program is offered free of charge. No previous dance or music experience is necessary. Limited space available!

Mandatory Orientation: you and your child must attend this session if you wish to register for the program. It will include a dance class for children and an info session/Q+A for parents.

Participants must commit to the full program.

Fee: a non-refundable $25 registration fee to secure your child’s spot in the program. If this is not possible for your family, please contact us.

July–August 2019
9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m daily
